"Atmospheric Trees" Charcoal Drawing Event
Just In time for Halloween, charcoal is back! Join us at Grit & Mane in Ellijay, GA to learn various charcoal drawing techniques to create atmospheric bare trees in this moody landscape. All materials, treats, and sparkling water are included. BYOB if you like! No experience necessary. Space is limited to 12 participants so reserve your spot soon!:)
“Barn Landscape in Three Colors” Acrylic Painting Event
Learn to paint a rural landscape using a triadic color scheme at Buckley Vineyards on Sunday, Nov. 15th! I loved this photo that my friend, Romell Ashby, took of this barn at our last painting event at Buckley. I decided it should be our next subject! Join to learn how to mix just three colors and white to create a harmonious color scheme and practice painting techniques for your OWN version of this vibrant composition. No experience is necessary, and all materials and homemade cookies are included!

"Fall Harvest Landscape in Oil Pastels"
Join us at Buckley Vineyards to celebrate harvest time in the North Georgia mountains and help Appalachian Children’s Center! You will create your OWN version of this vineyard landscape in oil pastels-one of my very favorites mediums to learn all about color. We will practice layering and blending techniques, discuss color theory, and learn how to add interest with textural mark making.
$5 from every ticket sold will go to help at-risk kids at Appalachian Children’s Center.
All materials and homemade cookies are included, and no experience is necessary! Wine and other beverages are available for purchase. Live music an food trucks will be on site.

Art Principles & techniques Class at Grit & Mane Hair Co.: Fall Session II
4-week session: 9/29, 10/7, 10/14, and 10/20
Great artwork starts with great drawing skills! In this class, we will cover all of the fundamental art principles and techniques using pencil, charcoal, oil pastels (drawing with paint!), watercolor, and acrylic paint. We will start with a series of drawing exercises. We’ll discuss and practice:
How to use VALUE and CONTRAST to create depth and realism in your drawing
How to SHADE and create TEXTURE and PATTERN with various media
How to use various GRID methods
How to draw in PERSPECTIVE
COLOR THEORY application
View historic art examples of Masters’ artwork
You will move on to painting exercises once you’ve completed the fundamental exercises at your own pace.
After this session, a new one will start on 11/3. Current students will have priority to register to continue their lessons, and new students may join and start at the beginning! New students are welcome at the beginning of each sessions, and everyone will work at their own pace through a series of lessons.

“Cohutta Cloudscape” Acrylic Painting Event at Buckley Vineyards

Join us to learn how to paint a simplified version of the gorgeous clouds above the Cohutta Wilderness in acrylics! Clouds are some of my very favorite things to paint! We will explore using an analogous color scheme, learn how to create depth in a landscape painting, and practice brushstrokes with glazes before creating your OWN cloud-filled sky. All materials and cookies are included. No experience is necessary. Wine and other beverages are available for purchase. Food trucks and live music will be onsite all afternoon!
